Sometimes it still floors him, how right they feel together, how something as silly as her hand on his can make things like the cold just fall away and become even more insignificant. They come back up on his place, festooned as it is with little blinking lights, and even with all the added complications that have become par for the course with him still lurking around the corners of his mind, it feels like he just woke up one day living someone else's life and can't be bothered to get the mistake fixed.

"Least we c'n get some use outta the fireplace 'fore it disappears on us," he points out with a look of feigned thoughtfulness.
