Meredith lifts her hands and lets them fall, looking up and away from him for a moment. "I don't know," she says, impatient because it's the truth. "I am not trying to annoy you here, Sean. I just care and I can't — I can't see you hurt and not react to that." Looking back, she reaches for his cheek again, not sure she can hold her tongue the way he'd like, but maybe there's no harm in declaring peace for a night. He wanted to come home to her. She never promised not to say it all again tomorrow. "I'll try, I will try. Don't be mad at me for caring about you."
