"I can live with it," Meredith says, smiling to herself. If it means he gets a little peace and some rest, she's more than satisfied taking the blame for that. Later she'll have to slip out and find a replacement for the evening, but for now, she just nudges him with her knee and says "Go to sleep," before she turns away to keep her weight off her injured side again. She reaches behind her for his hand to pull his arm around her, not tired enough to sleep, but not about to do anything to disrupt the calm while it lasts either.
