In his shoes, Meredith knows, she'd want him to leave. It doesn't matter what's wrong or what he's clutching — if their positions were reversed and she had come out here to be alone, she'd want just that. She doesn't have it in her, though, to leave him alone yet, partly because she doesn't want to be alone herself. If it were just a matter of him coming outside for air, she would tell him not to be long and turn right around, but it doesn't feel like that at all. "Are you okay?"
