Sean sighs and bites the inside of his cheek, willing himself not to snap at her and focusing his attention instead on the way the edges of the case dig into his fingers when he tightens his grip. There's no reason to snap at her, she's not the one he's frustrated with. It's himself, the person he was before he knew her, and the way he's suddenly acutely aware that that really wasn't a long time ago at all.
